As anyone who has spoken to me over the last few weeks will know - I've spent a lot of my spare time decorating my room - stripping the old wallpaper (of which there were several varieties) - filling the holes from where all the shelves have been taken down and finally painting them (the walls, not the shelves). This has been quite a gargantuan task as I've spent half of my already limited spare time moving the stuff that fills the room from one side to the other, before filling and painting, then moving it all back and doing the same on the next wall.
Well that annoyance aside - I've found something from mine (or my brothers' youth) that has come back to haunt me. Apparently one of us, when we were a child, got hold of a green felt tip pen and decided to draw all over one of the walls (or at least a big circle of green on one wall) Well this of course had been forgotten about in the mists of time - until I stripped the wallpaper off. Sure enough there was the splodge - and Mum says "Oh yes, I remember that"
NOW, almost certainly 20 years on and several coats of paint later (including a sealant paint) the lovely green splodge is still as bright as ever and shining out into the room through my lovely walls!!!!!
I mean how bloody ironic is that - if I'd wanted something to stand out through the paint I wouldn't have stood a chance - but because it's something I don't want to show up - it's as stubbon as a stubborn thing being VERY stubborn!!!
I suppose you have to laugh at the irony of it - they say your childhood always comes back to haunt you - in fact it's almost
like some kind of ghostly manifestation ;-) But it's bloody annoying (and not in an easily concealable place :-(
Swanny says ... "When your parents tell you NOT to draw on the wall, DON'T draw on the wall!!!"
