Did I mention this was a rant? Sense really has no place in it!

I wanted to post something regarding the terrorist attacks of September the 11th last year. I was at work in the BBC's local news room last year on that day, and like many of us, it is something I will never forget, nor to this day am quite able to comprehend.

At the time I remember seeing the news footage of the smoke emerging from Tower number 1, and simply brushing it aside and getting on with my work. With all the terrible things we see on the television, war and wanten destruction, we can become desensitized, and detached from feeling. Then as the minutes went by, more and more details emergered - that it was more than just a fire, that it was more than just an accident and suddenly, as we can all relate to, it would became one of the most profound events in many of our lives.

I don't think I can really articulate how I felt then, or indeed now, about the events that I saw unfold in front of me, but I hope I never have to witness something like that ever again, and I pray no-one has to live with such a fate.

May God bless the people who suffer at the hands of evil.

Oh dear god I'm really tired.

I had the pleasure of getting up extremely early (well early for me at any rate) in order to be at work at 7.30am. The pain was further intensified by having to work till 9pm on Saturday (nothing unusual about that - seeing as that is my usual shift) But by the time I had come home, spoken to my parents, had something to eat, and checked my emails (oh and chatted to Nathan on ICQ) it was bloody nigh 1am!! I just about managed to crawl out of bed this morning (with a bit of unwelcome cajolling from my mother - Not appreciated at the time of sleep - but appreciated when I made it to work on time!!)

Work (the gardening show) went by almost entirely without a hitch - which considering the track record of past OB's is a major breakthrough!!!

This afternoon I went to my great aunt's 80th birthday party - and won the competition for best one liner in the evening comedy fest that it turned into. On talking about not being able to swim...

Mary "My Dad was in the Royal Navy during the war, and he couldn't swim"
Andrew "Yeah but no-one in the Air Force could fly either!"

But enough of me boasting .... hang on .... this is *MY* Blog, I can do what I like!!

*silence*

Anyway - on to more pressing issues. If anyone is interested (and you all *SHOULD* be - LOL) - I have just updated my website this evening. It's not really a proper update (in the sense that there is something 'completely' new there) it is more of a thought/observation on the news page - kinda like here on the blog, but on my site, which is (in case the link didn't work www.mrmajeika.co.uk)
